Sheriff says a person interested in the Cracker Barrel shooting hospitalized after the shooting is linked to the northeast Harris County shooting

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) – A man has been hospitalized following a related shooting in northeast Harris County, authorities said Monday.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, investigators were in the 17700 block of the W. Lake Houston Parkway trying to arrest a person with an interest in the fatal shooting of manager Cracker Barrel. Gonzalez added that the man had two unrelated subpoenas.

During the arrest attempt, the congressmen fired their weapons, attacking the man. Gonzalez said the suspect was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The man’s name has yet to be released at this time.

Gonzalez said the man who was shot was a person concerned with the death of Robin Baucom, 59, as she tried to help an employee during a robbery.

The robbery happened on Saturday morning. Delegates said Baucom was working before the restaurant opened. Another employee, waiting to be released around 6:15 a.m., was approached by two men in a Dodge Charger. According to a member of the National Assembly, the man in the passenger seat got out of the car and tried to steal the employee’s wallet.

Baucom arrived to rescue the employee and let her in while pushing the door shut to prevent the man who was raping her inside. That’s when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Baucom, who later died at the hospital, deputies said.
