Shareholders trust Woodside to support the merger with BHP’s petroleum branch

MELBOURNE (Reuters) – Woodside Petroleum is confident its shareholders will vote in favor of a plan to merge with BHP Group’s petroleum arm by 2022, the company’s chief executive said on Wednesday.

“We have full confidence that our shareholders will support the merger,” Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill told analysts at a strategy meeting.

Woodside plans to put the already agreed-upon $28 billion merger to a vote in the second quarter of 2022.
