‘Shambolic’: The BBC pundit now makes a bold but confident prediction about Postecoglou at Tottenham

BBC pundit Nigel Reo-Coker has now made a bold prediction about Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur after Spurs approved Harry Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old ended his 20-year association with the north London club by moving to Germany on Saturday. Tottenham accepted an initial £86m, which increases to £100m after bids to sell Kane to Bayern Munich. While the forward has signed a four-year deal.

Kane could now make his Bayern Munich debut as early as tonight when FCB take on RB Leipzig. At 7:45 p.m., the top Bavarian club meets the Red Bull franchise club in the DFL Supercup. It could even be the very first trophy in the English captain’s career in the first team.

Tottenham sold Kane to Bayern Munich in exchange for the risk of a free transfer

Tottenham chief executive Daniel Levy has agreed to a sale of Kane to risk the striker going on a free transfer next summer. The 84-cap star’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season. He retired after scoring 280 goals and 64 assists in 435 games in all competitions.

Also in his final season in north London, he recorded 32 goals and five assists in 49 games. Kane scored 18 more than Son Heung-Min, who finished the season second on Tottenham’s scorer list. Rodrigo Bentancur also ended the season in third place with just six goals from the midfielder.

Now Reo-Coker reckons Tottenham’s sale of Kane has taken the pressure off of new Spurs manager Postecoglou. The Australian took the helm in north London this summer, with Levy eventually replacing Antonio Conte. He took charge after a trophy-rich stint at Celtic.

Reo-Coker explained it on BBC Sport football daily Podcast: “Postecoglou is definitely not under pressure at all because Tottenham are a chaotic club at the moment.”

Postecoglou won the Premiership title and Scottish League Cup in his two tenures at Celtic. He also secured the domestic treble in the 2022/23 season by adding a Scottish Cup win to his track record. Now Tottenham are hoping Postecoglou will lead a team without Kane to their first trophy since 2008.
