Shakeel Bodden charged with murder for stabbing sister’s boyfriend to death at Somerville home – CBS Boston

SOMERVILLE (CBS) – A man was arrested Friday following a fatal stabbing overnight at a Somerville home. Shakeel Bodden is now charged with murder.
The Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office said Bodden, 28, of Somerville, was the brother of the victim’s girlfriend and the stabbing took place in the basement of the home along Munroe Street. The victim was identified as Jalel Brown-Cross, 33 years old of Boston.
“Witnesses went down and found them struggling with each other over the knife,” said Somerville Assistant District Attorney Graham Van Epps.
Police were called to the home just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday and found the victim with multiple stab wounds on the front lawn of the home.
He is presumed dead at the scene.
“For many witnesses in the house, the defendant acted strangely. He was looking at the victim as if he had done something wrong, almost angry,” Van Epps said.
Bodden was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries “sticked during the attack,” according to the district attorney’s office.
Part of the street was cordoned off Friday morning to criminal gangs, and investigators were seen going in and out of the house to gather evidence.
Sarah Phillips, who lives in the vicinity, told WBZ-TV she saw the cruiser rush to the house and was shocked to hear what had happened.
“It was terrible,” Phillips said. “My heart goes out to the families. This doesn’t happen in our community. This is a crazy time, and I’m really sorry to everyone.”
Bodden has been charged in Somerville County Courthouse and is currently being held without bail.
