Sex Education filming location behind Moordale will be converted into apartments

Sex Education’s move to a new school in Season 4 occurred when the real-life Moordale filming location was converted into apartments.

For the first three seasons, “Sex Education” has made Moordale Secondary its home, but things change in season four as Otis, Eric and the gang will be heading to new shores, but before they reach their new school, they are here to take a look back at the filming location behind Moordale and what it’s become since the Netflix series was canceled.

Sex Education is filmed primarily in Wales in the UK and the location where Moordale stars in the series is the former Caerleon University campus near Newport.

The campus closed to students in 2016 after the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport (which is the department of sex education) merged in 2013, creating the newly formed University of South Wales, now based in the Welsh capital has moved , Cardiff.

As a result, the Sex Education team had almost unrestricted access to the campus and surrounding grounds for filming purposes, creating a compelling environment for the secondary school.

And in addition to the old college buildings themselves, the campus gymnasium has also been used to house a number of indoor Sex Education sets, including the home of Otis and Jean Milburn.

The site is converted into houses and apartments

In October 2021, work began to demolish a number of buildings on campus to allow for the construction of 218 apartments report from South Wales Argus.

The site was bought for £6.2million (US$7.9million) by Redrow Homes, who originally planned to start demolition work in May 2020 but initial plans were turned down.

While several buildings on the site have been demolished, the main Edwardian building on the campus, as well as three other buildings, are Grade I listed, meaning they cannot be demolished.

Instead, the developer planned to convert these buildings into 48 apartments.

A new frontier in sex education 4

Possibly with knowledge of the fate of its main filming location, Sex Education season 3 ended with the closure and sale of Moordale following the latest in a long line of scandals.

As a result, Otis, Eric, and a number of former Moordale students – but not all – will transfer to a new school, Cavendish Sixth Form College, in Season 4.

Your first day is quite a culture shock as Cavendish is far more progressive and forward-thinking than your old school.

Otis is particularly affected by the move, not only does he miss Maeve, who is studying in America, he’s no longer the only child at home, and he’s no longer the only therapist on campus.
