Season 4 of Sex Education is upon us, and fans of the series have commented on the hotly contested debate between Maeve and Ruby.
Since Sex Education first debuted on Netflix in 2019, Otis Milburn has had a slew of potential love interests, and with season four on the horizon, two of those would-be romances – Maeve Wiley or Ruby Matthews – are being brought back under control in the spotlight , as fans can’t decide who Otis is better off with – but a fan poll has settled the long-running debate.

Otis and Maeve have had a long-running want-they-don’t-want-them relationship since season one, when the couple first started the Moordale sex clinic.
The pair nearly made the leap from friend and business partner to romantic couple, but several obstacles — such as a deleted voicemail — stood in their way.
In Season 3, Otis and Maeve finally confessed their feelings for each other and the couple shared the kiss the most Fans have wanted to see it since they first met.
But once again, fate intervened as Maeve opened an exciting new chapter at the end of Season 3 when she accepted an offer to study in America.

Ruby Matthews proved to be an unexpected love interest for Otis in season three after the pair first slept together after a drunken party in season two.
But despite Ruby being a popular, mean girl and leader of the Untouchables clique, fans quickly became familiar with her as she and Otis began to spend more and more time together, eventually evolving from secret casual sex into boyfriend and girlfriend.
Their relationship soured when Ruby told Otis she loved him after he met her ailing father and he revealed he wasn’t.

In the days following the release of Sex Education Season 3 on Netflix in September 2021 – yes, it’s actually been two years since the last season – the French Netflix account posted a poll on Twitter (or should that be X now?), in which they asked fans if they preferred Maeve or Ruby as potential partners for Otis.
More than 120,000 fans voted in the poll, with Maeve winning the poll by a surprisingly narrow 52.6% to 47.4% ahead of Ruby.
Since Maeve and Otis have been hinted at as a couple since season one, it’s clear that the majority of fans will want to see the couple become a couple when Sex Education finally wraps up.
However, although Ruby did not begin a romantic relationship with Otis until seasons 2 and 3, she has quickly become a popular choice with a large segment of the fandom, as she has occasionally shed the bad girl facade to become more about her personal life and her truth was revealed personality.
Whether Otis ends up with Maeve, Ruby, or neither, we can be sure that Sex Education season 4 will be full of twists and turns.
