Senegal records first case of Omicron in visitors attending protests

DAKAR (Reuters) – Senegal recorded its first case of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus in a tourist who attended a rally in the capital Dakar last month with about 300 people of different nationalities, the laboratory said. IRESSEF said Sunday.

The 58-year-old was visiting from another West African country and tested positive when he left Senegal on Friday. The lab said he was in isolation and had no symptoms.
