Those who want to hear Lane Kiffin’s expanded take on the Nick Saban-Jimbo Fisher kerfuffle might be waiting a while.
This week, while speaking to a group of Alabama boosters, Saban accused Fisher’s Texas A&M program of “buying every player” in their vaunted recruit class.
Fisher, Saban’s offensive coordinator at LSU, called his former boss’s comments “despicable” and called him a “narcissist.” Saban later offered an apology.
Paul Pabst, a producer for The Dan Patrick Show, tweeted Friday morning that the show planned to speak to Kiffin, another former Saban offensive coordinator who is now Ole Miss’ head coach, about the matter. However, Kiffin was blocked by the SEC.
“We wanted Lane Kiffin on the show today, but the SEC commish [Greg Sankey] said no media/no comments on any SEC coaches,” Pabst said tweeted.
“The manager told us he had been ‘asked’ not to comment on yesterday’s coverage or to stop any media from doing so.”
However, before the Redeembargo, Kiffin received a brief comment on The Athletic on Thursday.
“I’m speechless for the first time in my life,” Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin told Bruce Feldman. “I kept saying, ‘This really can’t happen. Is this real life?’ I still haven’t moved from my seat. Should have been on pay-per-view.”
