Seann Walsh: From the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Scandal to ‘I’m a Celebrity’

I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! is back for another year, putting a new list of famous faces under the bug-infested microscope.
The cast is rounded out by Conservative MP Matt Hancock and Culture Club singer Boy George by comedian Seann Walsh.
Walsh is a familiar face among reality TV fans thanks to a controversial BBC dance competition Be sure to come dance a few years ago.
While Walsh has found recognition for his observational stand-up comedy routines, it’s the cheating scandal involving dance partner Katya Jones that he remembers most.

2009 – Walsh wins Chortle’s Best Newcomer
The comedy organization recognized Walsh’s potential by giving him the Best Newcomer award just a few years after Walsh began performing stand-up.
That year also saw him make his first appearance on the popular TV panel show Mock the week.
2012 – Seann goes wild
At the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012, Walsh performed his stand-up show Seann to be wild. He then toured the country with the set and it was filmed for his first live stand-up DVD.
September 8, 2018 – Strictly Come Dancing
Walsh started as a contestant in the 16th series of Be sure to come dance.
He was partnered with Katya Jones in a series that also included celebrities like Susannah Constantine, Kate Silverton and Graeme Swan.

Early October 2018 – scandal
At the time of his engagement in StrictWalsh was in a long-term relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries.
But just weeks into the series, Walsh was pictured outside the Duke of York pub in Marylebone sharing a kiss with Jones, who is married to dancer Neil Jones.
The apparent affair — which some have attributed to the so-called curse surrounding Strictly’s dance partnerships — put Walsh at the center of a fierce tabloid backlash. The couple apologized during an interview Strict‘s It takes two accompanying show.
Shortly after the story broke, Humphries split from Walsh in a public Twitter statement.
October 28, 2018 – Expulsion
Walsh and Jones were eliminated from the series in week six as their image was tarnished by the offscreen scandal.
May 2019 – Twitch
In 2019, Walsh hosted 10 episodes of a new game show, Cringeproduced for Netflix.
The series was canceled after just one season.
August 2020 – Walsh quits Twitter
Walsh announced he was leaving the social media platform in August 2020, claiming the abuse he received online had made his life “absolute hell.”
“I haven’t been on Twitter for about a week. I had to get back to DM someone. Quickly checked the dimensions. This app has helped make the last few years of my life an absolute living hell,” he wrote.

March 2022 – Interview with i
In March 2022, Walsh gave the a candid interview Iabout the Strict scandal and its aftermath.
“It was traumatic,” he said. “You never really get over something like that.”
October 2022 – “I Am A Celebrity” was announced
Walsh is announced as a surprise candidate for the new series of i am a celebrity.
He joined the show as a surprise candidate – but his arrival was marred by news that former Health Secretary Matt Hancock would be joining him.
It didn’t take long for presenters Ant and Dec to take the new series lightly Strict scandal on the air.
