Scump claims Modern Warfare 2’s leaked DMZ mode can “save CoD” by following Escape From Tarkov

Call of Duty icon Seth ‘Scump’ Abner believes the leaked Escape From Tarkov-style mode known as ‘DMZ’ for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 launch could help ‘save’ the franchise.

As the cycle begins anew for another year, hype quickly builds ahead of CoD 2022’s reveal. Although we know that for sure Modern warfare 2 is only a few months away, no concrete details have been officially announced.

That hasn’t stopped a plethora of alleged information from slipping through the cracks, however. Out of return cards to early campaign tidbitswe seem to have heard a lot.

Perhaps more attention than anything else, however, are reports of a new game mode inspired by Escape From Tarkov. Referred to as DMZ (Demilitarized Zone)Leaks suggest that this ambitious project will offer a unique experience with exclusive features never before seen in the CoD franchise.

If those reports are true, and MW2 does launch with an EFT-style mode, Scump says it might just “save” the series.

Modern Warfare 2 is quickly coming into focus after lackluster sales from CoD Vanguard.

Reportedly heavily inspired by EFT and games of this nature, DMZ appears to be a more “tactical” offering, according to prominent leakers. Whatever gear and loot you take into each round of action can potentially be lost in the high-risk, high-reward mode.

“If they get this right… it could save CoD,” Scump claimed during the recent OpTic podcast. “If they get this right… oh my god. CoD style Escape From Tarkov with skins…”

Regarding the last point, the latest leaks suggest that “tradable items‘ will arrive in CoD via the DMZ experience. A virtual marketplace will reportedly allow players to buy and trade everything from weapon skins to entire weapon blueprints.

Escape From Tarkov features a sophisticated trading system that allows players to earn money after successful runs.

Through similar systems at play, EFT gained such widespread popularity that each successful run could accrue a measure of wealth. Since Activision seems eager to replicate that style with MW2, Scump just “[hopes] they do it right.”

“If it’s an Escape From Tarkov game… These games are addictive! Just trying to get your balance, going in and killing people, taking their shit, it feels so good.

“Kill enemies that have higher tier loot. “It’s such a thrill. It is so much fun.”

Scump discusses MW2’s leaked DMZ mode at 37:00.

While ultimately he doesn’t “get.” [his] “Hopes for” yet, with a lot still subject to change before launch, Scump believes the new mode could put the iconic franchise back on track.

While the CoD IP is itself far from fightingyoungest Vanguard sales saw a notable drop for the series. Perhaps with MW2 and the release of that leaked DMZ mode, CoD could bounce back strongly. In any case, Scump thinks it’s possible.
