Comedian Sandi Toksvig has given fans an update on her health after being rushed to hospital.
The 64 year old baking The presenter was touring Australia when she contracted bronchial pneumonia. She was then taken to the hospital for treatment.
Toksvig wrote on Twitter: “Thank you to everyone who sent me such kind words while I was unwell. I am now discharged from hospital and continuing my convalescence in Australia until I am fit enough to fly home.
“My undying (literal) thanks to the amazing Australian Health Service.”
Before being hospitalised, Toksvig had given dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide and was due to tour New Zealand next week, with dates in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.
A previous statement shared on Toksvig’s Twitter account on Saturday (3 December) read: “Due to illness, Sandi has canceled the New Zealand leg of her tour.
“She was hospitalized while still in Australia with bronchopneumonia and is unable to travel or perform.”
Toksvig’s update prompted a wave of support from fans and peers.
Actor and improv comedian Mike McShane wrote: “Just found out about this and I’m so relieved you’re on the mend mate. strength for you and love. mike xx”
Author Michael Rosen wrote, “Great news Sandi!”
Labor MP Dawn Butler replied: “So glad you’re feeling better… please come back fit and healthy so we can go out… you made me laugh so hard I almost wet myself.”
Author Joanne Harris commented, “Take care Sandi. Glad you are on the mend.”
“Relieved that ‘actual live’ still applies, if not ‘live tour dates,'” joked children’s author Philip Ardagh.
As well as her stand-up comedy and work on bakingToksvig is also known for hosting the popular BBC quiz series QI.
