PM say we need a “nsymposium “about the best ways to control future pandemic waves after restrictions are lifted.

Around four out of five Britons over the age of 12 have had two doses of the fighter.

UKHSA Chief Medical Adviser Dr Susan Hopkins said “immunization is crucial to help us strengthen our defenses against severe illness caused by this new variant”.

Adults are encouraged accept their offer of booster vaccinations as soon as it arrives from the NHS.

Austria is set to enforce vaccinations from February, while people over 60 in Greece will face monthly fines from January if they refuse to get vaccinated.

Mr Javid said mandatory immunization for everyone was “unethical and also ineffective on a practical level”.

He added: “If you ask me about universal vaccination – as some countries in Europe have said they will – on a practical level, I just think it won’t work because vaccination race has to be a positive decision.”

However, some scientists say the mandatory Covid shots enhance absorption.

He said: “There are still millions of people eligible to be vaccinated and unvaccinated in the millions in the UK and this is a real, real problem.

“The fact that you may have to get vaccinated to get to certain locations could help improve vaccine coverage, especially in younger age groups. It certainly did in France. ”

Mr Johnson said ‘the most important thing’ was for Britons to get strengthen jabs after praising the Sun before Jabs Army campaign.

Several European countries are debating whether to make them mandatory for all citizens.
