‘Saddam Hussein’s weapons director’ has lived in the UK for 15 years and held senior roles at top university

AN is believed to be the weapons director who worked for Saddam Hussein who has lived in the UK for more than 15 years – and held a senior role at a top university.

Dr Saleh Al-Atabi is accused of being the “group leader” for the dictator’s brutal Ba’ath Party, which is responsible for major and grave violations of human rights and “terrorism” Spread”, Interior Office speak.

The physicist, in his 50s, is also alleged to have been employed by the Iraqi state-owned company – the Military Production Organization – which court papers allege made the weapons. as explosives and AK-47s.

He has since received his PhD from Imperial College London – where he worked as a research technician – in nuclear reactor technology and physics.

He was allowed to stay in the UK indefinitely in 2013 for human rights reasons.

Two Home Secretary refused to grant him British citizenship.

Details of his apparent past appeared in Supreme Court papers after he attempted to obtain a British passport.

Those newspapers quoted him as saying: “I had to run away because I was a group leader for Ba’ath . Party. ”
