Russia ‘prepared to invade Ukraine in DAYS and US embassy ready to evacuate’

The US State Department is expected to announce on Saturday that American staff at the Kiev embassy will be asked to leave the country, Related press reported.

Urgent diplomatic efforts are underway with President Joe Biden expected to discuss the crisis with President Vladimir Putin by phone on Saturday.

Earlier, the US asked the families of embassy staff to leave amid fears of a Russian invasion.

Some US diplomats may be moved to Ukraine’s far west, near the border of NATO ally Poland, so that the US can maintain a diplomatic presence in the country, AP sources said.

Biden urged Americans to leave Ukraine as soon as possible amid the “very clear possibility” of a Russian attack on the country.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said: “If you stay, you’re taking the risk that there’s no guarantee that there will be any other opportunity to leave and there’s no prospect of the US military being. must evacuate in the event of a Russian invasion,” White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Friday.

TROOPS FIRST TO UKRAINE

Russia has deployed troops to the Ukrainian border and Mr. Biden said he hoped Putin would be ready to attack Ukraine in the coming days.

Biden said the US military would not go to war in Ukraine but promised economic sanctions for a Russian invasion.
