Robert Feldman guilty of killing his wife Stacy in the shower after staging an accident

A Colorado man was found guilty Tuesday of strangling his wife in the shower before staging the scene to make it appear like an accident.

After deliberating for just two hours, a jury has returned a first-degree murder verdict on Robert Feldman, 58, prosecutors said in a press release.

Feldman’s 44-year-old wife, Stacy Feldman, was found dead in the shower of their Denver home in 2015. But Robert was only arrested in 2018 – after a woman he was having an affair with went to the police with her suspicions, local reports.

The judge in the case handed down a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, the prosecutor said.

“Despite his creative efforts to evade justice, Robert Feldman was found guilty today of the murder of his wife, Stacy Feldman,” wrote Denver District Attorney Beth McCann.

“I am very proud of the outstanding work of our prosecutors, investigators, victim advocates, support workers and Denver police officers who never gave up in getting Stacy justice.”

After the murder, prosecutors said Robert picked up their two young children from school an hour late and took them to a carnival before telling police he found his wife unresponsive in the shower, according to the Denver Post.

The husband told police that she dropped dead from an illness.

The coroner did not immediately rule the death a homicide, and it was not investigated by police until months later when detectives reportedly learned of Robert’s infidelity from his mistress, who read Stacy’s obituary and noted that the woman died on the day that she tipped her off about the affair, reported 9 News.

Robert had accumulated $750,000 in life insurance through Stacy’s death, and he used more than two-thirds of that to pay for an expensive defense attorney, despite legal objections from her family, who argued the money should go to their children.
