Seriously come to danceThe 2021 final has encountered another incident like Giovanni Pernice his foot was ‘crushed’ in a closed door.

The professional dancer, 31, is said to have closed the door tightly as he headed to It Takes Two on Thursday night.

Giovanni is seen opening the door with his foot in footage obtained by Online email, before someone tries to close it, trap him.

Three men are seen leaving the door, outside Giovanni and his associates Rose Ayling-Ellis was talking to fans, as he put his foot back to prevent it from closing and told them: ‘Hold it, hold it, keep it.’

However, the man eventually managed to close the door despite, crushing Giovanni’s foot in the process, with fans saying he exclaimed: ‘That’s my leg!’

Thankfully, he was able to take it off at the last second in the presence of eyewitnesses, when Rose asked: ‘So why don’t we go in there?’

Giovanni told her: ‘I was holding the door with my foot,’ as he explained what happened, before one fan commented: ‘You almost broke your leg!’

Thankfully, it looks like Giovanni has escaped injury ahead of Saturday’s final, when he and Rose will start against John Whaite and Johannes Radebe.

Third finalist AJ Odudu forced to withdraw before the final after sustaining a leg injury that meant she could no longer compete with professional partner Kai Widdrington.

The BBC said in a statement: ‘Sadly due to injury AJ and Kai have had to withdraw from #Strictly and will not compete in tomorrow’s final.

‘We want to thank them for an incredible 13 weeks on the show and the pure joy they bring to the dance floor each week.’

AJ explained in a press conference attended by metro.co.uk before the final: ‘So basically, short term, I’ve injured my ankle ligament, and I can’t put any weight on my leg.

‘So we missed a lot of training sessions because I couldn’t get up. I’m on crutches and doing everything I can to try to be there Saturday night. ‘

The Serious Dance Finale airs at 7pm on Saturday on BBC One.
