Ricky Martin’s ex-manager files $3 million lawsuit against him for breach of contract, alluding to ‘end-of-career allegation’

Ricky Martin’s former manager Rebecca Drucker is suing the singer for over $3 million in unpaid commissions, alleging a “blatant” breach of contract.

Drucker managed Martin twice until their relationship ended earlier this year, according to court documents filed in LA Central District Court on Wednesday (June 29).

The first time was from 2014 to 2018, when she resigned after a “particularly ugly incident in Dubai” allegedly between the singer – whose real name was Enrique Martin Morales – and his representatives.

Two years later, she was hired back as his manager after Martin allegedly “begged Rebecca” to work for him again amid “absolute turmoil” in the Puerto Rican singer’s life.

According to the 15-page file obtained from meeting, Drucker “agreed and revitalized Martin’s career in every way.”

As Martin’s “manager and top advisor,” Drucker said, she “advised Martin on his record deals, touring and sponsorship deals, and other professional endeavors.” She highlighted the singer’s recent North American tour alongside Enrique Iglesias last year, adding that Martin has “made millions of dollars” with Drucker at his side.

Drucker also wrote that she “vigorously protected” the singer when he was allegedly “threatened with a potentially career-ending allegation in September 2020.” She said she advised Martin and “engaged top-notch legal counsel to handle the matter,” allowing her former client to “emerge unscathed and proceed with his professional revival.”

The filing read: “There is just one problem: Martin has completely and maliciously refused to pay Rebecca the millions of dollars in commissions he owes her under her management contract.

“By his apparent breach of contract, Martin has betrayed Rebecca and taken for granted her loyalty, dedication and exceptional service to him.

Drucker said she resigned from her job again in April 2022, alleging that “Martin encouraged a toxic work environment in which he constantly abused, manipulated and lied to her.”

She continued, “Martin has now threatened Rebecca and tried to force her to sign an agreement with a non-disclosure clause to silence Drucker about the singer’s ‘despicable behavior’ that she ‘witnessed and endured’.

Drucker has filed for a trial by jury, seeking damages “in excess of $3 million, subject to discovery and settlement, and for an amount to be proven in court.”

The Independent has reached out to Martin’s rep for comment.
