Revoke the Vax mandate for everyone, Mayor Adams

Mayor Eric Adams might as well be acknowledging the obvious right now, rescinding all vaccination mandates and considering reinstating public employees who were fired for refusing to show they were bitten.
Whatever purpose the rules previously served, the pandemic is over and there is no defense of the double standard after it exempt professional sports teams and star performers from the private-sector vaccination order.
“This is about putting New York City-based artists on a level playing field,” Adams said Thursday. But he’s pretty much the only one who sees it that way, even if he previously described the de Blasio mandate as “unfair” because unjabbed guest players, but not home players, were allowed to play in the city.
“I still feel Kyrie [Irving] and all players should get vaccinated. Nothing has changed,” protests Adams. But so does all the little people who reject the jab.

There is no scientific justification for the mandate. We now know that the vaccinated can get COVID, only milder cases – so “herd immunity” is an impossibility. Mandates have little impact on hospitalizations or deaths. Federal contracts for private employers have been rejected by the courts. Holding on is just stubborn.
About 1,400 city workers, including first responders, who survived the worst of the pandemic have been laid off; Still on the fringes are vacant concession workers like Elissa Embreea food service worker at Citi Field.
Disfellowshipped FDNY firefighter Sophy Medina, who was on unpaid leave while seeking a religious exemption, cited sports stars who received passports “not based on their religion, not on the basis of their belief system and not on the basis of science.”

The mayor has found mandates undermining the city’s recovery; this is basically the last. Kill it, keep trying to convince the unvaccinated to get their jabs and get this mess behind us all.
