The Chicago Bulls suffered a tough time at the end of the year, following a four-game losing streak just a few days ago. However, they still came in first place in the Eastern Conference.
But, the team continued to fight the adversity. Chicago has been without striker Patrick Williams for most of the season. In his place, Billy Donovan tried several players.
We’ve seen Javonte Green, Derrick Jones Jr. and even Alex Caruso started in Williams’ place. But, all three of these guys were injured – at the same time, in a couple of matches. Green will be back soon, while Jones will be out for a while. Caruso, though, is is finally back.
With the Bulls also now playing Lonzo Ball for 4-6 weeks and Zach LaVine in a few games, this The team is injured. Fortunately, a covered veteran may now be available to assist them if a new rumor turns out to be true. According to Shams Charania’s The Athletic, Brooklyn Nets can find a new home for veteran striker Paul Millsap.
The Chicago Bulls should try to buy Paul Millsap from the Brooklyn Nets.
This is just one of several moves the Bulls can make to try to increase their depth due to recent injuries. However, adding Millsap would be an almost perfect move for Chicago.
Millsap, 36, likely doesn’t have much basketball left. But, he feels he can still contribute at a high level.
In Brooklyn this year, Millsap is playing with a career-low 11.3 minutes. The impressive part is, he posted 3.7 rebounds in those limited minutes. In other words, on a 36-minute basis, he would average 12 goals per game.
Millsap still has a lot of stuff left in the tank, especially for a team like the Bulls, which, with their prolific power, are monstrously deep. Funny enough, Millsap was was a target of the Bulls. If the Bulls are at all fit, Millsap will still be a key player on the bench and will probably feature in Jones and Green’s minutes.
But, he might be the right man for the job. While he doesn’t offer much from the three-point range, as Jones and Green have shown at times, Millsap offers that physical advantage in four. And, Millsap isn’t a terrible external shooter either. He completed it over time.
Other teams like the Los Angeles Lakers or the Golden State Warriors could offer something along the lines of the second-round pick, but if the Nets don’t get much traction, Millsap could end up being bought out.
If I were the Bulls, offering a second round to Millsap wouldn’t be the worst idea. But, if the Nets end up buying him, the Bulls should really pounce.
