Reports: Postecoglou call backfires as £200k-a-week star set to turn down late Tottenham transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be without Ansu Fati as the Barcelona winger is now on the verge of joining Brighton and Hove Albion instead.
Ange Postecoglou has called Ansu Fati but the Barcelona star is now expected to turn down a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s what COPE reporter Helena Condis claimed tonight (Wednesday) that Fati was “99% done” on Tottenham and only one signature was needed.
Condis claimed Spurs boss Postecoglou called Fati and told him he would be a key player in Tottenham’s squad.
It was added that Fati would travel to north London on Thursday to complete his move before the transfer deadline.
However, Tottenham appear to have been hijacked.
Fabrizio Romano now reports that Brighton and Hove Albion are close to signing Fati.
It is said that Barcelona have accepted a loan offer from the Seagulls and Fati has agreed to the move.
Roberto De Zerbi has made a huge push and Fati is now expected to become a Brighton player soon.

Tottenham are certainly concentrating their efforts on Brennan Johnson
Tottenham have tried to sign a versatile striker who can play across the front.
Gift Orban from Gent has been linked but the main target was Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson.
A move for the Welshman has been in the works for days and even Forest expect a deal to be struck before the transfer deadline.
Given the huge cash requirement to sign Johnson, Tottenham appeared to choose Fati as an alternative.

The London Evening Standard suggested Barcelona wanted Fati to join Tottenham but his £200,000-a-week wage was an issue.
It’s unclear how much of that Brighton will pay now, but Fati’s decision to snub Spurs means Johnson is clearly back in the spotlight.
With around 48 hours remaining and Tottenham will need to act quickly to secure a deal for Johnson as Fati is now off the table.
