Report: West Ham’s interest in £22m transfer has now turned around as agent makes new demands

West Ham United’s interest in Lazar Samardzic’s transfer is now leading Inter Milan to reconsider a move to sign the esteemed Serbian midfielder from Udinese.

This is acc Calciomercato, who reports Inter Milan could turn around any time Samardzic plays. The Serie A club are reconsidering after their father and agent made fresh demands on them after West Ham joined the race to bring the 21-year-old on.

Samardzic’s father told Inter Milan they now have to offer better terms with West Ham, who are also interested in his transfer. But his request had the opposite effect, with San Siro chiefs now unexpectedly cooling their pursuit. Samardzic’s move was almost complete beforehand.

West Ham’s interest prompts Inter Milan to make a U-turn on Samardzic’s transfer

Inter Milan had already received the Berlin-born Serbia international for his medical after reaching an agreement with Udinese. But the two-international talent is now in limbo. His father, who made new demands for the Nerazzurri when the move was actually made, risked the transfer.

However, West Ham have yet to express interest in signing Samardzic from Udinese. The Daily Mail reports that the Irons are considering the German native as a replacement for Lucas Paqueta due to interest from Manchester City. But they’re still just considering an offer.

West Ham are keen to get into the race for Samardzic should Paqueta leave as the 21-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in Europe. Udinese also don’t mind selling the midfielder for offers in the region of £22m. But the Irons first want to know he’s open to the transfer.

Samardzic has been at Udinese for the last two years after leaving RB Leipzig in August 2021 €3 million (£2.5m). The Reds also retained a future sell-out clause after struggling during his only season in Saxony. They had bought Samardzic from his youth team, Hertha BSC.

Former Hertha interim coach, Alexander Nouri considered Samardzic a “very exciting” player while we were in Berlin together. But the 1.80 m tall central midfielder only made three appearances in the Old Lady’s first team. He then only played nine games at RB Leipzig during the 2020/21 season.

However, a transfer to Udinese has seen Samardzic fulfill his potential and attracted interest from West Ham and Inter Milan. He has seven goals and seven assists in 63 appearances in all competitions. In the 2022/23 season, he recorded five goals and four assists in 37 Serie A games.

The Post report: West Ham’s interest in a £22m transfer is now about to reverse itself as the agent makes fresh demands which first appeared on HITC.
