Report: Nottingham Forest are now leading the race to sign a £25m player from Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Ryan Sessegnon is now wanted by Nottingham Forest for a possible Steve Cooper reunion.

Ryan Sessegnon could be offered a way out of Tottenham Hotspur with Nottingham Forest now interested in a summer move.

This is acc Alan Nixon of The Sunwho reports that Forest is “first in line” to sign Sessegnon this summer.

Tottenham are reportedly ready to either sell Sessegnon or agree to an ‘extended loan deal’ with Forest to take him on.

Forest boss Steve Cooper is believed to be a big fan of Sessegnon having worked with him in the England youth team.

Cooper presented Sessegnon with his England Under-17 national team bow and selected him for the 2016 European Under-17 Championship.

We’ve already seen Cooper sign his former England youth players to Forest, with the addition of Morgan Gibbs-White and Jonathan Panzo.

Sessegnon would fit into a similar list and Forest are on the hunt for another left-back this summer.

Atletico Madrid’s Renan Lodi’s loan is over and a return to the City Ground seems unlikely.

Sessegnon would make sense as a potential replacement, even if he would be a better fit as a left-back or left-midfielder.

Ryan Sessegnon has to leave Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham believed they had found a future star when they signed Sessegnon in 2019.

Spurs have struck a £25million deal Signing Sessegnon after becoming a true prodigy at Fulham.

However, the move just didn’t pan out as Sessegnon was unable to secure a place in the Tottenham side.

A 2020-21 loan at Hoffenheim bought Sessegnon playing time but it didn’t really help him shine at Tottenham.

Sessegnon has made just 38 Premier League appearances for Spurs and his future looks uncertain at best.

Destiny Udogie is set to start his Tottenham career this summer after finally arriving from Udinese.

Ben Davies is another option for Ange Postecoglou at left-back, Ivan Perisic is sure to progress.

Sessegnon needs to play regularly again and playing under a manager who knows him well, in Cooper, could be ideal for him.
