Report: Newcastle United have mooted opting for ‘incredible’ Champions League semi-finalists

Newcastle United are interested in Sandro Tonali’s signing and are discussing a move for the star from AC Milan.
Sandro Tonali is a name Newcastle United mention in terms of midfield signings.
That’s according to the Daily mailwho claim Tonali’s merits from Newcastle have been discussed.
The Magpies are on the hunt for another midfielder this summer and there are strong links with more attacking options.
James Maddison and Dominik Szoboszlai are closely linked with Newcastle but the Magpies could go a different route.
Bringing in a midfielder who has only played a seated role so far could give Bruno Guimaraes the opportunity to step up a bit more.
That’s an idea Eddie Howe could espouse, and Tonali would certainly make sense in that regard.
Tonali played as a defensive midfielder for AC Milan for most of the season and helped them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Two goals and 11 assists was a strong tally for Tonali last season and Newcastle now seem interested.

The Sandro Tonali deal seems unlikely given Newcastle United’s FFP claims
We can understand why Newcastle would like Tonali.
While there have been comparisons to Andrea Pirlo over the years, Tonali is perhaps a little more action-packed.
Tonali – hailed as an “incredible player” by former Italy international Federico Balzaretti – is only 23 years old and still has huge potential.
The problem will be the asking price.

Milan would demand a heavy price for Tonali, especially given that he only signed a new contract until 2027 in September.
The Telegraph Report that Newcastle are restricted in their summer spending due to Financial Fair Play regulations.
It means it could be difficult for Newcastle to choose Tonali even if they like him a lot.
We can’t see Tonali heading to Newcastle this summer but he’s a name to watch going forward as the Magpies look to grow and become an even bigger force in the transfer market.
