The 27-year-old moved to Newcastle in 2015 after leaving Northampton Town.

The striker failed to make much of an impact in the Magpies’ first team and was loaned out to Barnsley and Wigan Athletic, among others.

Newcastle sold Toney to Peterborough United in 2018.

Rafael Benitez was the coach of the Magpies at the time and a former coach of Liverpool and Real Madrid haven’t seen Toney as a player who could succeed under him in the first team.

As we now know, that turned out to be a mistake.

Toney has played 68 Premier League games so far in his career.

The striker has scored 32 goals and provided nine assists in these games.
