Report: Chelsea expected to move away from ‘top drawer’ target, door could be open for Arsenal

Chelsea are now expected to cool their interest in Michael Olise despite a release clause in his new Crystal Palace contract.
Michael Olise has signed a new contract with Crystal Palace, but it contains a release clause that can be activated next summer.
That’s according to the London Evening Standardwho claim that Olise actually has a release clause as part of his new contract.
It seemed like Olise would move to Chelsea at some point in the summer, but Palace convinced him to sign a new contract.
The Blues had planned to activate a release clause of £35m, but the release clause in his new contract is said to be “significantly higher”.
The exact amount is unclear, but Palace have ensured that they will receive a hefty fee if anyone chooses Olise.

Chelsea are unlikely to return for Michael Olise now
Chelsea apparently wanted to sign a homegrown winger before the transfer window closed.
Olise was the main target but they ended up signing Cole Palmer from Manchester City instead.
The Standard now claims that Chelsea are likely to tone down their interest in pursuing Olise even with that release clause in place.
Chelsea not only have Palmer but also Noni Madueke, another homegrown left-footed winger who likes to cut inside.
Adding Olise would also be overkill and Chelsea appear ready to abandon their interest in Olise.

The door could be open for Arsenal to opt for Olise
Olise is still out injured at the moment and the summer window is still very far away, so no-one will be thinking too seriously about signing him yet.
However, there was also other interest 90 minutes of reporting In July, both Arsenal and Manchester City said they wanted to sign Olise, who was hailed as a “top draw” by Martin Keown.
City have decided to sign another winger in Jeremy Doku, but we can’t rule out Pep Guardiola’s men making a big move for Olise by selling Palmer.
Arsenal have liked Olise for some time, but it could be difficult to convince him to come in as competition for Bukayo Saka on the right-hand side.
The Gunners would no doubt be keen to sign Olise and Chelsea’s withdrawal certainly opens the door for Mikel Arteta’s men, but Olise has already prioritized first-team football once with his Palace contract and may do so again.
