Report: Chelsea are now hoping to sign an ‘outrageous’ £45m player who Arsenal also want
Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are now reportedly looking to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise and it will be a major blow to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
90 mins reported on July 30 that Arsenal and Chelsea are among clubs interested in signing Michael Olise from London and Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.
According to the report, Manchester City, who won the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League last season, are also interested in Olise.
However, it seems Chelsea could beat Arsenal and City by signing the 21-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.
The London Evening Standard reports today that Chelsea are close to agreeing personal deals with Olise “outrageous” by Crystal Palace central midfielder Will Hughes as shared by Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster on his YouTube channel in August 2022.
According to the report, the Blues are hoping to secure a deal with Palace for the winger worth around £45million.
Chelsea pursuit of Michael Olise beats for Arsenal
Chelsea are very active in pursuing their transfer goals.
The London Evening Standard has reported that Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo is undergoing a medical at Chelsea.
According to the same report, Chelsea are also in advanced talks over a £55million move from Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
That the Blues are now actively trying to sign Olise will be a major blow to Arsenal.
Despite Arsenal not having to sign a new attacking player, there is no doubt Olise would be a very good option for manager Mikel Arteta.
And he’s only 21.
The France Under-21 international has great potential and will only get better in the years to come.
However, it’s hard to imagine the Gunners matching Chelsea’s terms.
There’s no way Arsenal would be willing to pay £45m for a 21-year-old who might not even make the Gunners’ starting XI.
Olise has made 63 Premier League appearances in his career so far.
The winger has scored four goals and provided 16 assists in those games.
