The Scottish sun now claim that both Celtic and Leeds are keen on Cape Town Spurs teenager Luke Baartman.
It is said that Celtic have been tracking Baartman and watching him in action for Cape Town Spurs.
Celtic would not consider Baartman as an immediate first-team option but believe he has great potential.
However, the Bhoys expect competition from England, with Baartman backed for a big future.
Leeds are named as an interested club as the Whites look to repeat Lucas Radebe’s success in the search for a South African ace.
Who is Celtic and Leeds in Baartman’s sights?
Baartman has risen through the ranks of Cape Town Spurs and has now made four first-team appearances, scoring one goal.
The 17-year-old has also won two caps for South Africa’s U19 team.
Baartman plays primarily as a striker and is backed for a big future in South Africa.
Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou told SNL24 Earlier this month he said that Baartman had “the X-factor” and had “that little something special” in his game.
Efstathiou added that he knows interest will come, but Cape Town Spurs don’t want to see Baartman leave just yet after watching him rise in the rankings.
Baartman reportedly scored 84 goals in a season for Cape Town Spurs and we could see him at Celtic or Leeds in the near future.
