Report: Arsenal looking to sell £25m player this summer, Ashley Cole thinks he’s a warrior

Arsenal had hoped to sell defender Kieran Tierney in this transfer window.

This is according to a report by TEAMtalk.

Kieran Tierney recently joined Real Sociedad on loan but journalist Charles Watts told the above media outlet that Arsenal were trying to get some money for the left-back.

In the end, however, there were no serious offers for Tierney, resulting in Arsenal having to approve a loan deal to fulfill the 26-year-old’s regular-time wish.

He only made six Premier League appearances last season so it came as no surprise that he wanted to leave the Emirates.

Arsenal can still get a decent transfer fee for Kieran Tierney

While Arsenal may have struggled to find a buyer for Tierney this summer transfer window, things could be different in the next transfer window.

Tierney is a good defender, along with former Arsenal star Ashley Cole described him as a “warrior”. After a season on the bench, that’s kind of forgotten.

If the Scotland international’s loan deal to Spain goes well, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Premier League clubs look to buy him next year.

He obviously has experience in the business and is only 26 years old. It’s really not impossible for Arsenal to get it the £25m they paid Celtic for him back or a fee close to it.

If not, there’s always a chance that Tierney will return to the club and Mikel Arteta will keep him. Oleksandr Zinchenko has had some injury problems since arriving at the Emirates, while it could be a while before Jurrien Timber is ready to start for the Gunners following cruciate ligament surgery.

So Tierney’s long-term future still seems uncertain. For now, however, he will only focus on Real Sociedad and collect minutes there.
