‘Really positive’: Tom Cleverley has been impressed by what Tottenham are up to just hours before the deadline

The former Manchester United player says Brennan Johnson is someone with “incredible pace” and a player who is “exciting”.

As for Tottenham, Cleverley believes it is a “really positive signing” for Ange Postecoglou’s side, he said on Deadline Day Sky Sports (09/01/23 at 18:10).

There are just hours until the 2023 summer transfer window closes as Spurs look to get that deal across the finish line.

It’s just typical of Daniel Levy that they bring in a lucrative contract so late BBC Sports He reports the 22-year-old is being paid in excess of £45million.

Nonetheless, this is what Cleverley had to say about the upcoming Johnson deal ahead of the summer transfer window closing.

“You’re getting a player with incredible pace,” Cleverley said. “A great age. He’s done a really good job of keeping Forest in the league. An exciting young player.

“I think Spurs fans would love to see an absolute number nine come to the club but I think it’s a really positive signing for Spurs.”

Tottenham’s new attacking style

At the start of the Postecoglou era, Spurs fans could see a complete change in their style after years of playing defensive football.

Spurs were up front, playing with freedom and playing like they had the handbrakes off.

And if they manage to get Johnson through the door, he will only add to that quality.
