‘Really coming into his own’: Sky pundit says £30m Arsenal star is making a ‘real difference’

Kevin Campbell has praised Martin Odegaard for the transformation he is making in Arsenal colors.

With the captain’s armband on his arm, Martin Odegaard helped Mikel Arteta’s side to a comfortable 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

The 24-year-old netted from the penalty spot and could have scored another goal, but the captain and Bukayo Saka handed the ball to Kai Havertz, allowing him to score his first goal for Arsenal.

Former striker Kevin Campbell praised the Norway international for the moment, adding that the quick-thinking playmaker was “really coming into his own” at the Emirates, as he said Sky Sports (10/01/23).

Signed for £30m in summer 2021 (Sky Sports) After a six-month loan spell, the former Real Madrid prodigy is now starting to live up to his hype.

As one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s team sheet, there aren’t many players at Arsenal who are more important than the captain himself – he has recently been compared to Erling Haaland.

Martin Odegaard is growing at Arsenal

“But this guy here is honestly Martin Odegaard, the captain,” Campbell said. “He’s really, really coming into his own now. And he’s making a difference.

“He worked with Saka to give Kai Havertz the opportunity to take the penalty. I think it’s good for the group that Kai Havertz got off to a good start.”

The game against Manchester City is coming up

While Arsenal comfortably beat Bournemouth on Saturday, the current Premier League leaders suffered their first defeat of the season against Wolves.

That adds a little more spice to Sunday’s clash, as it has been a while since Pep Guardiola’s side lost two Premier League games in a row.

But before the duo can throw themselves into these games, they have to deal with Champions League football.
