Reading: Man plunges into fire leaving one dead and two missing

A 31-year-old man has been charged with murder and arson after a house fire left one person dead and two others missing.

Hakeem Kigundu is being kept on fire in Reading, Berkshire, broke out in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A neighbor said they were woken up by a loud bang, followed by screaming, at around 3am.

Four people were taken to hospital following the Grovelands Road fire, which was tackled by more than 50 firefighters from across Berkshire and Oxfordshire.

Locals say they saw two people throwing themselves from the windows of the building to try to escape, Read Chronicles report.

Kigundu, from Reading, was charged with one count of murder and one count of arson with intent to endanger life this evening, Thames Valley Police said.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Reading Magistrates Court tomorrow.
