While previewing Jimmy Fallon’s new musical and humorous variety game series That’s my jam on Thursday (December 30), Chance pulled a lever and landed in a musical genre challenge, where participants were given a completely different song and genre they had to sing. When the screen selects “Hot in Herre” and “country -rock,” the Chicago MC picks up the mic and remixes the song with an additional sound (and a Southern accent). National Grammar the star will surely approve.
Alessia Cara, who collaborated with Josh Groban on the series, bowed and clapped her hands to Chance’s performance while sitting at the piano, while Chance’s partner Joseph Gordon-Levitt was stunned at seat.
“Never in my life did I think that would work!” Fallon, who got up in the middle of the performance to dance on stage, exclaimed after it ended.
“Hot in Herre” was released as the lead single from Nelly’s second album Nellyville in 2002. Written by Nelly and the producers of The Neptunes, the hip-hop classic interspersed with “Bustin ‘Loose” by Go-Go Godfather Chuck Brown, in itself proving the song can be enjoyed. adapt to different genres. “Hot in Herre” reached #1 on Billboard Hot 100 and won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Male Rap Solo Performance.
“Nation?” Groban asked curiously. “It works!” Nelly’s country sensibilities have certainly worked for him in the past as well as in the present. In August, he talked to Billboards about his eighth studio album Heartland, which he calls a “country-inspired” project and features a reunion with Florida Georgia Line as well as a collaboration with Blanco Brown, Breland, Kane Brown, and Darius Rucker. Heartland entered the top 10 of Billboards‘S Top Country Albums Chart in September.
