Ralf Rangnick responds to Erling Haaland transfer link with Man Utd

Ralf Rangnick denied reports claiming he would receive a bonus if he signed Erling Haaland for Manchester United and did not talk about a transfer for the Borussia Dortmund striker.
Haaland will become one of the most in-demand players next summer as he has a release clause in his contract with Dortmund that could allow him to leave for a minimum of £63m.
Rangnick has been tipped to move to Haaland after agreeing to become United’s caretaker manager until the end of the season.
Reports in Germany this week claim the 63-year-old will receive a €10m (£8.5m) bonus if he convinces Haaland to move to Old Trafford.
But Rangnick has denied such a clause exists in his contract with United and says he has full attacking options.
Asked directly about the reported Haaland-related bonus in his contract, Rangnick joked: ‘Let me see… £10m for Erling Haaland, £10m for Kylian Mbappe, £10m for Robert Lewandowski, £10m for Joshua Kimmich… this is clearly nonsense, there is no such clause in my contract.
‘Like I said, it doesn’t make sense now to have any kind of speculation about possible new players.
‘Erling Haaland is a great striker. I know myself best because I was with everyone in Salzburg at that time with my friend Christoph Freund [Salzburg’s sporting director] and the people there, I was also a bit involved in the move from Molde to Salzburg.
So I know what kind of player he is. Meanwhile, the whole world has realized how good a player he is. Two years ago, perhaps only very few people believed in this kind of development.
‘Like I said, it doesn’t make sense. I’m even happier [with the squad]. The attacking power we have here, all the attacking players we have here, quite a few of them didn’t play yesterday. [against Arsenal] – Martial only came on for the last five minutes, Mason [Greenwood] do not play at all. We have a lot of top players in the attacking department so we don’t need to talk about any other players. ‘
