Rain test positive for COVID-19 at IEM Katowice

FaZe Clan’s rifler shower tested itself antigenically positive for COVID-19 today at IEM Katowice after feeling some symptoms. The Norwegian has been isolated and will play matches from a separate hotel room due to ESL safety regulations.

The news came as a blow to FaZe, who just got permission to play with star Robin “ropz” Kool after he missed the play-in and opening round of the main event. He tested positive for COVID-19 in Warsaw, Poland, on February 9, and has been quarantined there since. The international team used jks as an emergency backup in the three matches they played at IEM Katowice.

Rain notices that jks is on standby in case he needs it. FaZe will play an important match against Fnatic at 9am CT and if they win, they will secure a spot in the knockout stage, which is scheduled for February 25-27.

The rain situation is alarming for FaZe. Even if he could play the group stage from his hotel room, he likely wouldn’t have been allowed to do the same in the knockout stages if he hadn’t come out with a negative by that time. The knockouts will take place at Spodek Arena in front of a live audience, and ESL does not allow players to play the knockouts outside of the arena because of the difference in the competitive environment.

Tournament organizers’ rules say the team must make an emergency transfer or use a substitute if that’s the case, but ESL clarified to the Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte on February 15 that it could review the rule at any time, depending on the situation. The knockout round will take place from February 25 to 27. Rain test positive for COVID-19 at IEM Katowice
