PRESENTER Rachel Maddow will only be hosting her show once a week starting in May after her two-month hiatus.
The popular political commentator has been absent from her show since February as she took time off to work on new projects with NBCUniversal.
She returned to host MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow show on Monday and announced that she will be going to a weekly schedule starting next month.
She only hosts the show on Monday nights starting May 2nd.
Meanwhile, rotating guest presenters will fill in for the presenter Tuesday through Friday.
An MSNBC spokesman said that Los Angeles Times that the show is called MSNBC Prime when Maddow is away.
Maddow told viewers, “That could change … We’ll see how things go, but that’s the plan as of now.”
She said the situation is “fluid”.
Maddow said it’s possible she’ll appear more regularly on the show in the run-up to the November midterm elections or when big stories break out.
The journalist, who joined MSNBC in 2008, will continue to host the current program Monday through Thursday for the remainder of April.
maddow has been absent from her show since February but doesn’t think she’ll take another break.
She said, “One of the things I found to my surprise was that I don’t actually need another break.”
Maddow says she’s working on a film adaptation of her podcast, Bag Man. meeting reported.
Ben Stiller is directing, with Maddow serving as executive producer.
Sources close to the presenter have previously stated that she would like to have time and space for her personal life and other projects.
Back in February, she said, “Just like late-night hosts sometimes take a break from their shows, I’m going to take a little break from this show here so I can work on some of these other projects.”
“Change is good. Change is absolutely terrifying, but in this case it’s good. Now let’s never talk about it again.”
In October, MSNBC President Rashida Jones said the network was in “no immediate rush” to find Maddow’s successor.
last august, Business Insider reported that Maddow would remain with MSNBC after reaching an agreement on a new contract.
NBCUniversal will reportedly give Maddow $30 million a year to keep her at the company through the 2024 election, the company said Daily Beast.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, she’s reportedly worth $25 million.
Maddow is one of the highest-paid news anchors on television, earning $7 million annually as an MSNBC news anchor The street.
The journalist has received several Emmy Awards for her show.
In 2021, she received a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for her 2019 book Blowout.
