HISTORY-MAKING jockey Rachael Blackmore was a favorite seeing off an all-star cast and winning the BBC World Sports Star award.

Grand National heroine, 32, was favored by the bookie 5-2 to see off Lewis Hamilton’s F1 champion rival Max Verstappen.

NFL legend Tom Brady was the second favorite with a 3-1 win over Ladbrokes.

Jamaican athlete Elaine Thompson, who won three gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics, and tennis icon Novak Djokovic both tied 4-1.

Mexican boxer Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is 7-1 while Red Bull F1 star Verstappen stands out 10-1.

But bookies reckon Irish rider Blackmore will let the rest of the eyes watch when she wakes up again.

Blackmore’s 2021 record has become a global superstar.

She has become First woman to win Grand National in the Minella Times last April.

Victory in the world’s most famous race ended an incredible month for jockey alongside coach Henry de Bromhead.

The duo teamed up in a devastating fashion to wipe it all out before them at Cheltenham Festival in March.

Blackmore has become The first woman racer to be crowned top equestrian at the jumping competition, thanks in part to victories such as Champion Hurdle’s victory over Honeysuckle.

Voting for the award opened and ended at 1pm on Tuesday, December 14.

The awards will be presented during the BBC Sports Personality of the Year program live on BBC One on Sunday 19 December.

Canelo was nominated after victory over Caleb Plant making him the first undisputed super-middleweight world champion.

Winger Brady, 44, helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win Super Bowl 55 by beating the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this year.

World No. 1 Djokovic won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon in 2021 with all wins.

Thompson-Herah was named after she won gold in the 100m, 200 and 4x100m finals in Tokyo.

Dutchman Verstappen could be crowned F1 champion this weekend if he beats Lewis Hamilton in Abu Dhabi.
