Racehorse SUPERSTAR Snowfall has died aged four – with trainer Aidan O’Brien devastated, calling her a ‘huge loss’.
The record winner of the Epsom Oaks Snowfall is said to have performed a ‘split’ in her box and injured her pelvis.
Celebrity trainer O’Brien said ‘we did everything we could for her’ but she had to go to sleep.
O’Brien said to Car racing: “We are very sorry to announce that our wonderful goofy Snowfall suffered a serious injury a few weeks ago.
“Despite the best care and concern from our veterinary team and from our team here, Ballydoyle, her condition severely deteriorated a few days ago and we cannot had no choice but to make the heartbreaking decision to put her to bed.
“She had a broken pelvis. She was fed at lunchtime by one of the men and when he returned to her an hour later, she was dead in the box.
“Our vet John Halley assumed she broke the box and injured her pelvis, but obviously we don’t know exactly how it happened.
“We did everything we could for her but it didn’t work.

Frankie Dettori blew the competition away with a big 16-game win over Snowfall in Epsom Oaks last June.

They then saw the former world champion win the Irish Oaks a month later before winning the Darley Yorkshire Oaks last August.
Snowfall has raked in £885,696 in just 14 races.
Her last run was a third-place finish in the Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot last October.
She had finished sixth at the Arc de Triomphe just 13 days earlier.
