The home secretary accused opponents of treating exploited migrants with contempt – along with British taxpayers clamoring for action.

It targeted “shameful” human rights lawyers who enrich themselves on the backs of human traffickers who send desperate people to our shores in flimsy boats.

And she lashed out at opponents who had “no plan” to solve the crisis, which is costing taxpayers £1.5billion a year and has seen more than 4,500 people arrive in the UK so far this year.

Mrs Patel spoke her trip to Rwanda to seal the deal.

“Labor has no plan. They don’t care about the interests of Britain or the British taxpayers footing the bill.

“They show utter contempt for democracy and the wishes of the British people, who for years have been calling for action to fix our broken asylum system and fight illegal migration.”

She condemned lawyers who thwart attempts to deport illegal migrants by filing last-minute appeals.

Ms Patel said: “We know traffickers benefit from illegal migration, but many law firms do the same.

“They oppose the deportation of illegal migrants into our country and are effectively the opponents of what the British people want. It’s embarrassing.”

Labor claims the plan is “evil” and “inhumane”.

THE Archbishop of Canterbury will today describe the government’s plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda as “the opposite of God’s nature”.

In his Easter sermon, Justin Welby will say that we should “not subcontract our responsibilities”.

He will also call for a Russian ceasefire in Ukraine and express concern for British families facing the cost of living crisis.

It comes as a further 260 migrants landed in Kent yesterday.
