Prince William and Kate Middleton delighted fans by releasing their 2021 Christmas card featuring family photos taken on holiday.

The photo was taken in Jordan, not specifically Christmassy but following Cambridge’s trend of featuring family portraits on their cards.

Image of William sitting on a golden bag next to his wife Kate, with the couple resting their hands on the other’s knees.

Prince George, eight, and Princess Charlotte, six years old, sitting next to their parents, while three years old Prince Louis sitting on a sheepskin rug at her mother’s feet.

Kensington Palace said the photo was taken in Jordan earlier this year, but did not say what the nature of the trip was, when exactly it took place, or who was behind the camera.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall made an official tour of Jordan and Egypt in November, where they celebrated the culture, heritage and achievements of Middle Eastern nations.

Jordan holds a special meaning to Kate as this is where the Duchess spent part of her childhood while her father worked as a flight coordinator for British Airways.

When William visited the Middle East on an official tour in 2018, he talked about his intention to return with their children in the future.

Pictured, the Cambridges and their children are smiling and looking relaxed in their casual outfits.

The whole family is wearing summer clothes as opposed to the winter and Korean suits they’ve seen on previous Christmas cards.

William wore a khaki green t-shirt and beige shorts, while Kate wore a green long-sleeved dress.

George paired with his parents in a camouflage print t-shirt and light shorts, while Charlotte looked glamorous in a blue and white gingham patterned dress.

Louis is wearing a blue and white striped t-shirt and light shorts.

The image was provided by Kensington Palace and posted on the couple’s social media account with the caption: ‘Happy to share a new family photo, featured on this year’s Christmas cards.’

The Cambridges are not the only members of the royal family to release Christmas cards this week.

Clarence House also released a card hand-picked by Charles and Camilla, which featured a photo of the couple at Royal Ascot earlier this year.

It shows the pair in formal wear for the races – Charles in a gray top hat and suit, Camilla in a cream dress and hat.

The image, which features Charles, who is wearing a black mask, appears to help Camilla put on her cream mask, is very similar to the painting in 2021.
