President Biden presents the Medal of Honor 3rd Class – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

President Joe Biden presented the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest award for combat valor, to three soldiers who served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The three soldiers were Sergeant First Class Alwyn Cashe, Sergeant Master Earl Plumlee, and Sergeant Christopher Celiz.

Cashe, who died at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, gave his life in 2005 to save his comrades from a burning vehicle and was the first African-American to be rescued. awarded the Medal for Actions during the War in Iraq.

Plumlee fought against suicide bombers while serving in Afghanistan in 2013, refusing to let her injuries stop her.

Celiz made her last sacrifice in 2018 protecting an American helicopter that evacuated wounded soldiers in Afghanistan, saving them and the crew on board.

Following the presentation of the Medals during a White House ceremony, who celebrated the news and delivered the following statement by Chris Cassidy, President and CEO of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation.

“The National Medal of Honor Museum is delighted that Sergeant Cashe 1st Class, Sergeant Plumlee and Sergeant Celiz 1st Class have been awarded the Medal of Honor,” Cassidy said. “These American patriots went above and beyond the call of duty and deserve the highest recognition for their bravery under fire. We aim to preserve and tell the stories of the recipients. as well as the stories of all the Medal of Honor recipients, from whom Americans can learn a lot.”
