Poppet the three-legged cat doesn’t have any rehoming apps yet

3-year-old Poppet may be missing a leg, but he has more than enough love to make up for it.
The three-legged cat, in the care of the RSPCA in July of this year, was discovered limping in the Basildon area.
Vets believed he might have broken his leg, so Poppet was transported to the RSPCA Finsbury Park Animal Hospital in London, where an examination revealed he was suffering from an old fracture that had not yet fully healed.
The poor cat also has deep scabs all over his hip and is suffering from cat flu.
Unfortunately, the best option is to amputate Poppet’s broken leg.
Katherine Ivermee, animal welfare officer at the branch, said: ‘Poor Poppet was extremely scared, timid at the hospital and clearly in great pain.
‘The vets decided that the best option was to amputate his leg, which would mean fewer complications and less recovery time.
‘After being moved to a boarding house at the branch for much needed rest and TLC, it started to relax and became a much more cuddly cat! ”
After a few months of recuperation and care, Poppet is ready to find a new home in October – but has yet to receive any applications.
The RSPCA is now calling for the right owners to provide Poppet with a loving home in time for Christmas.
He’s a ‘very affectionate’ kitten, well-rested on three legs, and a lover of cozy beds, food and noise.
Future owners will need to have a secure garden, away from busy roads, and because he can still be a carrier of cat flu, he will need to be the only cat in the house.
He can live with families with children from high school or older, but doesn’t want to live with a dog.
Katherine said: ‘Poor Poppet has been ignored so far and we don’t know why. ‘He’s an adorable, fun and sweet little boy who just needs someone to give him a loving home just in time for Christmas! ”
