Police say Ninja motorcyclist was thrown into telephone pole in Durham accident on Wednesday

DURHAM, NC (WNCN) – Durham Police Department are investigating after a motorcyclist crashed into a parked car that threw him into a telephone pole Wednesday night.

The Durham Police Department responded to a reported traffic accident at approximately 5:10 p.m. at the 2600 block of E. Main Street.

Officials said a man riding an eastbound 1994 Ninja motorcycle went off the road, struck a parked car, collided with a hill and was thrown into a telephone pole.

Police said only the motorcyclist was a 42-year-old man who was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. No other identification has been released.

Durham Police said while the investigation is ongoing, speed does not appear to be a factor.
