Pokemon Go leak reveals “Drip Lapras” is finally coming

Over a year after a Pokemon Go dataminer found “Drip Lapras” in the game’s files, the Pokemon’s stats have been updated, suggesting it’s finally getting released.

Niantic offers Pokemon Go players a slow content drop that only releases a handful of Pokemon at a time. These new releases will be stretched further since the normal and shiny variants of a Pokemon are usually released separately.

The developers are also replacing new Pokemon releases with special costumed Pokemon. This happens annually with events such as Paris Fashion Week, Halloween, Go Fest and New Year’s.

However, some costumed Pokémon, like Cowboy Hat Caterpie, have become icons for the community. One such costumed ‘Mon was spotted over a year ago, but still hasn’t made its debut in the game.

Drip Lapras is coming to Pokemon Go

On April 8, 2021, dataminers found a version of Lapras wearing a bow tie in Pokemon Go’s files. The creature is officially named Lapras Costume 2020, but the community was quick to dub it “Drip Lapras.”

Although it appeared in the game’s files, it had no stats and could not be found in-game. Since then, over a year has passed, and a To update Giving Drip Lapras stats and moves has finally been released.

Although Drip Lapras is still not found in the game, one step closer to the goal. Players expect it to be released sometime this summer alongside a re-release of its plush counterpart.

Drip Lapras first appeared in the 2018 Ride On Lapras Pokemon Merch Collection. It featured the bow tie-wearing Lapras giving rides on his shell to Pikachu and other Pokémon. However, this collection was not made available outside of Japan.

Besides the most dripping Lapras in Pokemon Go, players can also find its Shiny variant. However, it cannot be transferred to Pokemon HOME.
