Players are excited to see how Overwatch 2 will update Brigitte’s Shield Bash. The infamous stun is finally being removed and more.
For Brigitte, big things are coming in Overwatch 2 and not just how the hero looks.
Based on what was shown in the Overwatch League playtests, support fans believe the Switch will be a massive upgrade.
These tweaks have been known for a while, and non-Brig-Stans have complained that the changes – which include a damage boost and cooldown reduction – could become overwhelming.
Shield Bash changes are ‘actually brilliant’
On the official Overwatch forums, user VexInsanity compiled a list of all the changes coming for Shield Bash which are as follows:
- Stun is removed
- Cooldown reduced from 7s to 5s
- The distance is increased from 6.85 m to around 10-11 m
- No longer blocked by shields
- Now inspire triggers
- Damage increased from 5 to 50
They also explained that while getting rid of stun removes crowd control from movement, the “function” of the ability remains intact.
“As an anti-dive tool, this shield bash lets Brig push flankers away from them with damage instead of stuns,” they explained. “If she hits Tracer with that shield slam, Tracer has to retreat. The 50 damage is a lot and Brig is now healing itself.”
Taken together, all of these changes more than make up for the loss of stun. While Brig won’t be able to interrupt ultimatums or inflict as much pain on enemy tanks, she will be better at deterring flanking heroes.
“Essentially it’s still an anti-dive tool, it still allows Briggs to duel (though not more effectively with more lethality),” added VexInsanity to stop someone’s ability or ult.”
With the Overwatch 2 Closed Beta coming up in April 2022, we should get a chance to see these changes in action soon. Ideally, they keep Brigitte as a viable heroine without forcing her to be
