Pink Floyd Plan ‘Pulse: Restored & Re-Edited’ Reissue

Pink Floyd will release a “restored and redacted” edition Pulse concert film, capturing the band’s magnificence Division Bell tour, next year. The film will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on February 18.

The film chronicles the band’s appearance on 20 October 1994 at the Earl’s Court of London and features a full performance of the band. The dark side of the moon. The band’s core lineup for the concert features guitarist David Gilmour, keyboardist Richard Wright and drummer Nick Mason.

The upgraded film previously appeared in Pink Floyd’s Years later box set in 2019. For that release, Aubrey “Po” Powell of the Hipgnosis design team, created artwork for the group’s most iconic album sleeve, edited by director David Mallet. Powell, along with designer Rupert Truman (StormStudios) also contributed photos for the reissue’s artwork, which Hipgnosis’ Storm Thorgerson originally created with Peter Curzon. The packaging reimagines the red flashing light of the original 1995 release, now pulsed forever with two AA batteries.

“It’s basically a device that we think is entertaining,” Mason said of the lighting in a statement. “That’s what Storm Thorgerson’s idea is related to The dark side of the moon and pulse, and it’s a live album so the box stays ‘alive’. Then, in terms of serious deep meanings, one might struggle a bit.”

Two-disc, deluxe releases – Available for pre-order now – also features music videos, concert screenings, documentaries, tour rehearsals, and more. They also contain a 60-page booklet.

Outside the Pulse re-released, the band seems to have released as well a dozen live recordings has never been officially released on streaming services. All of them were recorded between 1970 and 1972.
