Pink fan who went into labor at concert gives bizarre tribute to singer

A woman who went into labor during a Pink concert has honored the pop star with the name of her newborn son.

Angela Mercer was attending the “So What” singer’s show at Fenway Park in Boston with her sister-in-law Amy and mother Barbara on Aug. 1 when 31-weeks pregnant Angela went into labor not long after arriving.

She called her doctor, who advised her to go to a hospital.

“With all the traffic around Fenway due to the concert, Angela had trouble getting a ride to the hospital.” Social Media Posts from that Brigham and Women’s Hospital read.

Angela and her family decided that the quickest way to get to the hospital, a mile away, was to walk, so they set out on the treacherous journey.

“Uber and Lyft we ordered one each and they didn’t arrive so I decided we had to walk because the baby was breech and I knew it,” Angela said the CBS broadcaster WBZ. “I was very concerned that he was in distress. You don’t know what’s going on in there.”

Her husband Ace was still in Albany and had spoken to her on the phone while she was on her way to have a cesarean.

“She went into labor, was in a lot of pain and dropped the phone,” the new dad told WBZ. “I heard the baby’s heartbeat in the background and the nurses said, ‘Okay, there’s a heartbeat,’ and there was just a lot of excitement.”

“The doctors don’t have any major concerns. It is wonderful. He was so early; A lot could have gone wrong. We’re fine and just happy,” Angela enthused, thanking the “extraordinary team” at the hospital.

“Although the family couldn’t enjoy the concert, they say they received the greatest gift of all – a healthy baby boy,” the hospital wrote in its post, adding that baby Aycen is currently being cared for in a neonatal intensive care unit in Albany . but not because of any “big concerns”.

While Angela missed the concert – which was part of Pink’s Summer Carnival stadium tour – the artist tweeted a celebratory message to the new parents on Thursday.

“This is the cutest thing!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!” the “Trustfall” singer wrote on Xformerly known as Twitter.

The Post has reached out to Pink’s reps for further comment.

Angela still hopes to see the singer in the future.

“We have to reschedule!” Angela told WBZ. “Whenever their next tour is.”

Pink’s outdoor summer carnival continues through October 9th with a stop in Phoenix, Arizona, and then she kicks off her “Trustfall” arena tour in Sacramento on October 12th.
