PIF said to bid for a “high profile” playmaker
Paul Merson has written in SportsKeeda that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are set to sign James Maddison from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
The former Arsenal star has said he’s a big Maddison fan and that Newcastle should sign the England international.
Merson believes Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is being sold to complete a deal for the 26-year-old.
Newcastle could finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, while Leicester are in danger of being relegated to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Merson wrote: “Maddison is a quality player who I’m a huge fan of – I think he would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle.”

A move to the Magpies could be very appealing for Maddison, who has scored nine goals and provided six assists in 19 Premier League starts for Leicester so far this season.
