PewDiePie can’t believe Markiplier “ripped off” his billboard for the YouTube show

YouTube star and self-proclaimed “Sweden’s most famous man”, PewDiePie, has just posted a video focusing on striking similarities between one of his own billboards and that of his colleague Markiplier.
Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg is often considered one of the oldest YouTube gaming channels and has a long history of influence in the social media world.
His second video, posted after a long-discussed move to Japan, shows his influence can be seen far and wide and shows a real-life example that imitation really is the greatest form of flattery.
In the video titled ‘Can’t believe Markiplier did this to me‘ Felix shows a picture of a billboard from his YouTube Red Show ‘Scare PewDiePie’ alongside a picture from Mark ‘Markiplier’ Fischbach Show ‘In Space with Markiplier’.’ The resemblance is immediately apparent.
The videos for the two original YouTube productions immediately convey a strong resemblance.
Looking at the two pictures side-by-side, Felix’s first reaction is, “You ripped it off right away?” Before continuing more lightheartedly.
On Markiplier’s billboard, creator Felix uses exact image except that Mark’s face is photoshopped onto the body in the image. part of one longstanding standard by Markiplier co-opting and paying homage to other creators in his promotional material.
Given that “In Space with Markiplier” focuses on a continuous multiverse narrative, and both series are owned by YouTube through its funding program, it’s unlikely that this was an unknown rip-off.
More than two years after the (now debunked) adult proposal between Markiplier and PewDiePie, it’s a blessing to see the creators being able to reference each other’s work in this way.
Comments on the Reddit post discussing the similarities were quick to point out the lack of malevolence in Markiplier’s actions, pointing out, “It’s too painfully obvious to be anything else, unless someone tries to getting sued.”
Despite PewDiePie’s statement that “I’ll have to check that out,” there’s no indication that Markiplier’s use of the image will have a major impact. Should this change, we will of course keep you informed.
