Peter Kay has shared a “big announcement” about his new tour on BBC Radio 2.
On Thursday (December 8), the comedian appeared on the network where he was interviewed by DJ Sara Cox over the phone.
“First of all, I want to thank everyone who bought tickets for my tour,” he said. “They finally managed to book more additional appointments.
Tickets for the new shows, which will take place in Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Glasgow and many others, go on sale on Sunday December 11th at 10am.
Kay returned to the stage earlier this month after a lengthy hiatus from the spotlight and described the reception as “cheerful”.
The tour kicked off at the AO in Manchester and when the comedy star took the stage he was greeted by a standing ovation that left him emotional.
“How am I supposed to do comedy now?” he tearfully said, adding, “I can’t believe you made me cry.”
Addressing his absence from the stage, Kay told the audience, “I love you too, in a way you’ll never know. I’ve been looking forward to this for five years.”
The tour is his first since 2010, when he set the Guinness World Record for the best-selling run of all time, playing to more than 1.2 million people.
It is currently planned to run until autumn 2023.
