Peter Dinklage blasts Disney’s ‘paradoxical’ decision to remake Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Peter Dinklage criticized the impending revival of children’s films in 1937 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, call the story “f***ing backwards”.

Actor who has dwarfism, is discussing the concept of “waking up” on the latest episode of WTF with Marc Maron podcast when he commented on the live-action version, will star Rachel Zegler as a Disney princess.

“Literally not to offend anyone,” he said, “but I was a bit surprised that they were so proud to cast a Latina actress to play Snow White. You are still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look back at what you were doing there. It makes no sense to me.

“You’re making progress in some way and you’re still doing this paradoxical story of seven dwarves living in a cave together, what the hell are you doing?”

The first Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs The film is based on the 1812 German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. The dwarves in the original story and Disney movies don’t live in a cave, but a small house.

In other versions of the story, including in Belgium and the Netherlands, Snow White befriends 17 bandits living in a cave, instead of seven dwarves living in a small house.

Dinklage, 52, added: “Didn’t I do anything to verify the cause of my soapbox? I guess I’m not big enough. I don’t know which studio it is but they take great pride in it. All love and respect for the actress and everyone who thinks they did the right thing. But I just like, what are you doing? “

The story has previously been criticized as workable because some of the dwarves are portrayed as stupid or clumsy, and in the film, Snow White assumes they are all children.

The next Dinklage can be seen in Cyrano, a new musical adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac, launching in the UK next month.
